Robert Gagne

Robert Gagne's nine events of instruction are very helpful in coming up with a teaching process. It is the "bare bones" model of teaching but people can use it for a tentative lesson plan. This could help the teacher make a more interesting and well planned lesson that the children will be engaged in.
We also learned about the three types of interactions: student to student, instructor to student, and student to content. It is important to incorporate all of these factors into the classroom. This will keep the students engaged and they will benefit more from each lesson.

Making a Prezi would cover several of the ISTE student standards. It covers standard one, creativity and innovation. It would cover section B by the presentation being an original piece by the teacher for the classroom. It also covers section C because models and simulations will be used to go over concepts. The prezi could also cover sectionD because it could include different trends.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe that education is necessary in life. There are so many things to learn about in the world and it all begins in the classroom. As educators we start small, but as we move on from level to level with the students the big picture comes into play. I believe the process of education is very important. From grade school, to junior high, to high school, and beyond there will always be more to learn and take in. In the younger grades teachers start with the basics such as 1+1=2. In middle school the students start learning algebra and growing a bigger vocabulary. In high school, people start expecting you to know what you want to become when you grow up. This process is very important in everyone's lives, and I want to be a part of it.
I believe the teacher's role in the classroom is very important. The teacher is the person that has control of the classroom and what knowledge they will give to their students. A teachers purpose is to give students knowledge that they need for their futures. I know personally that I want to open new doorways to my students. I want them to think creatively and always love to learn. I want to teach either first or second grade, which are very important developmental years. I want my students to always want to come to school and be ready for each day. I want them to move on to another grade saying that they love school and come ready to learn. I want to be the teacher that makes a difference.
Another thing that I believe is important in the classroom is variety. If a teacher uses the same method of teaching everyday then the children will become bored and not pay attention as much. This is where I think technology comes into play. It adds variety and there are so many options out there. A teacher can show videos, do a powerpoint, project a lesson, make different charts, and much more. The students can come to class not knowing what to expect and then be in for a good surprise when its something new and exciting. All these things are very important in the classroom and I believe all teachers should take them into consideration.
